How Gradings Work
✔ When Gradings Happen
Gradings take place throughout the year and are offered when your coach feels you’re ready. There’s no pressure and no fixed deadlines — progress is based on consistency and confidence.
✔ What We Assess
Every grading is marked on six key areas: Fitness, Power, Speed, Accuracy, Effort and Attitude. These qualities matter more than perfection — we’re looking for improvement and commitment.
✔ What You’ll Be Asked To Do
You’ll demonstrate techniques from your syllabus, including striking, movement, padwork, blocking and basic self‑defence. You’ll also complete a short fitness section appropriate to your grade.
✔ How Long It Takes To Progress
Most students grade every 3–6 months depending on attendance, effort and confidence. Higher belts naturally take longer as the skills become more advanced.
✔ Supportive, Not Intimidating
Gradings are friendly, structured and encouraging. Your coach guides you through the process, and you’ll always know exactly what’s expected before you step onto the floor.
