About CT‑Martial Arts
CT‑Martial Arts was founded with a simple mission: to create a martial arts community built on respect, discipline, confidence and genuine personal growth. What began as a small group of passionate students has grown into one of West Berkshire’s most active and inclusive martial arts schools — a place where people of all ages and abilities can train, progress and thrive.
Our roots trace back to the South East Academy of Martial Arts, where our Head Instructor, Danny, trained for more than 25 years under Master Peter Edwards. That heritage of high standards, technical precision and community spirit continues to shape everything we do today.
We believe martial arts should be accessible, supportive, challenging and authentic. Whether you’re here to build confidence, improve fitness, learn self‑defence or pursue a Black Belt, you’ll find a programme and a coaching style that supports your goals.

Since launching CT‑Martial Arts in 2017, we’ve helped dozens of students achieve their Black Belts, supported hundreds of families, and built a reputation for quality, professionalism and genuine care.
We remain committed to delivering high‑standard martial arts training, creating a safe and inclusive environment, helping every student reach their potential, and continuing to grow with our community.
Meet Our Instructors
Danny
Danny began his martial arts journey with our parent association, the South East Academy of Martial Arts in High Wycombe, training predominantly under Master Peter Edwards for more than 25 years. In 2005, he achieved the goal he set for himself on his very first day: earning his Black Belt. With a passion for sharing the knowledge he’d gained, Danny quickly became an assistant instructor to Master Edwards, helping promote kickboxing across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Before long, he was running several successful schools of his own. In 2014, Danny expanded his training into more traditional systems and began studying Dim Mak under Master Steven Burton, learning how pressure‑point principles can enhance the practicality and effectiveness of self‑defence across all martial arts. He also trains in Hung Gar Kung Fu with Wayne Husbands and Robin Adam, and in 2016 had the opportunity to train in Hong Kong with Master Mark Houghton. Today, Danny remains a major contributor to the South East Academy and, as a 5th Dan Senior Instructor, sits on the South East grading panel. Since relocating to West Berkshire, he has built one of the area’s largest martial arts schools and has proudly brought more than a dozen new black belts to the panel since founding CT‑Martial Arts in 2017.
Stefan
Stefan has been a practitioner of Martial Arts from a young age working his way up the Judo Ranks before started his Kickboxing Journey. In 2017 Stefan, with his kids, joined what was then the Calcot and Tilehurst branches of the South East Academy. Not long after, Stefan became an essential part of the team and has since worked with Danny to push the Calcot & Tilehurst Kickboxing classes into becoming the entity it is today. Stefan has a fantastic teaching persona, and drives to get the best out from all that stand in front of him. An integral part of the Instriuctor team, Stefan now heads up the juniors team and an inportant part of all students martial Arts Journey
Michelle
Michelle started in our Ladies classes shortly after inception back in 2017. Keen to take on physical challenges she quickly got into the flow of Kickboxing and found it to be her new passion. Michelle challenged herself through the gradings and found herself incorporating Martial Arts into her lifestyle. A true leader, she began assisting in both the Ladies classes as well as the mixed group, where she truly found her passion. In 2022 Michelle completed her Black Belt and pushed through many barriers to come out as one of the top black belts on the day. Since the opening of the Theale class in 2021 Michelle has, taken over the running of the Bring a mum group and an important part of the CT-Martial Arts grading panel
Chloe
From the moment Chloe joined CT‑Martial Arts, her natural ability and rapid progression stood out. She consistently mastered challenging techniques with precision, driven by the same discipline that shaped her years in professional athletics and competitive training. Her work ethic quickly made her a role model for new starters and a source of motivation for long‑standing members looking to push their own limits. Although she is still on her journey toward earning her Black Belt, Chloe has already proven herself to be an invaluable part of the team. In 2023, she expanded her contribution by assisting Dan and Michelle in the Ladies classes, demonstrating not only technical skill but also a genuine commitment to supporting others. Today, Chloe heads up our Ladies‑Only Classes on Tuesdays, sharing the role with Becca as they rotate teaching responsibilities and bring their own strengths to the programme. Chloe’s dedication, attitude and influence make her a standout presence at CT‑Martial Arts — someone who inspires confidence, encourages progress and raises the standard for everyone around her.
Becca
Becca is the newest addition to the CT‑Martial Arts instructor team and one of our proudest success stories. After years of dedicated training, she achieved her Black Belt in 2025, earning her place among CTMA’s senior students through hard work, consistency and a genuine passion for martial arts. Her positive energy, technical ability and supportive coaching style made her a natural fit for the team. Today, Becca co‑leads our Ladies‑Only Kickboxing Classes on Tuesdays, rotating teaching responsibilities with Chloe to deliver sessions that are empowering, welcoming and focused on helping women build confidence through martial arts. As both an instructor and a role model, Becca brings enthusiasm, professionalism and a strong sense of community to every class she teaches — inspiring others to push forward on their own martial arts journeys.
Toby
Toby has been one of the driving forces behind the development of our sparring team, known for his power, intensity and the high standards he brings to every session. His ability to motivate both teens and adults has helped countless students become smarter, stronger and more confident in their sparring. Before taking a short break to begin his journey into the Army, Toby headed up numerous sparring sessions at CT‑Martial Arts, pushing the team to refine their technique, sharpen their timing and elevate their overall fight IQ. He also began incorporating elements of boxing and grappling into his classes, broadening the team’s skill set and raising the technical potential of our students. Although he’s currently away, Toby remains a valued member of the CTMA family — a powerhouse instructor whose influence continues to shape the way our students train, think and perform.
